Since Airbnb is the only platform that allows guests to select a pet during the booking process and supports both per-pet and per-stay pet fee configurations, the pet cleaning fee setup applies exclusively to Airbnb. When we configure the pet fee in our system, Airbnb automatically retrieves this information.
If a guest selects the pet option while booking, Airbnb automatically includes the pet cleaning fee in the total reservation cost based on our setup. No manual adjustments are necessary, provided the guest indicates they are bringing a pet during the booking process.
To verify whether the pet fee was included and paid, you can:
-
Check the Airbnb reservation under the "Host payout" section—there should be a separate line labeled "Pet fee."
-
In our reservation dialogue, the pet cleaning fee and any applicable tax on the fee should also be clearly listed.
However, if the guest informs us after the reservation has been made that they are bringing a pet, the pet fee is not added automatically. In these cases, we must request the pet cleaning fee and any associated tax, and manually add both to the reservation dialogue. When you enter the pet fee amount manually, the tax should be calculated automatically.
Important: When adding the pet cleaning fee upon request, always include both the pet fee and the tax on it.
